Never Existed Ch 39

Every pony was prepared and ready to act out their plan; they were determined and sure of themselves that this will work, especially Twilight. But they did fear that Athanasia would have a trick up her sleeve that would throw everything off and then they would have to quickly think of something else before it was too late.

Twilight took one last glance at Sunset Shimmer before beginning her plan, but first she replied with a statement that had a strong sense of determination.

"How does it feel for you Twilight?" Athanasia asked her once again requesting an answer.

"I'm not facing them at all, in fact, we're all facing you." Twilight replied with a smirk assuming a fighting stance.

Athanasia smirked and then turned around for a brief moment, her horn lit up with its usual colour of pure evil. And this made all the ponies wonder what Athanasia was planning now. Twilight began to worry deeply that Athanasia's plan would backfire her plan and then she would have to think as quickly as she could to think of another plan before it was too late.

"Facing me, and some pony else…" She added as her voice began to fade out.

Twilight's ears folded in fear and worry of who Athanasia had with her, when she saw who it was, her heart almost stopped beating. Her pupils shrunk dramatically as her mouth was wide open with surprise.

Athanasia turned around along with the Pegasus who was presumably brainwashed with a smile on her face as she looked directly at Twilight in wait for her response.

Twilight's feelings became from determined to angry and upset in an instant, she didn't want Athanasia ever hurting this stallion that she had cared about so much.

"You leave him alone!" Twilight demanded as she forgot about the plan she had with her friends and fought for the stallion she had presumably loved. At this moment Twilight had turned into some pony else who just wanted everything to be right.

"Who is that pony?" Applejack asked while looking directly at the blue maned Pegasus.

"Well, his hair could do with a bit of a touch up, if you ask me." Rarity answered while flaring her curled mane.

"That's not his name, silly." Pinkie giggled with a snort. "That's Twilight's love interest." She replied grinning.

The five other ponies gasped in shock, especially Sunset Shimmer who knew who this stallion really was.

"Wait a minute; I used to date that stallion. Are you saying my old special some pony is her love interest?" She asked to Pinkie while pointing at Twilight who had her horn lit up in anger.

The five ponies gasped again in shock of this pony being a part of Sunset's life as well as Twilight's. They looked over at Twilight who was not acting like she was a moment ago.

"What? You want this pony? Does he mean anything to you?" Athanasia asked Twilight already knowing the answer as she looked down at the golden coated Pegasus.

Twilight's teeth grinded at the scene that she was witnessing and in, her horn lit up with more rage as she attempted an attack towards Athanasia who had successfully dodged it and proceeded to return the attack back at Twilight who was caught off guard for just a small moment.

In all the meanwhile, Nightmare Moon was receiving constant memories of before she became Nightmare Moon; it was annoying and aggravating her to an extent that she blasted a stone wall with her dark magic.

"Stop it! I've changed! I don't miss you!" She cried as she sealed her eyes shut in pain and slight regret of what she has done.

"Nightmare Moon?" Sunset asked almost aloud to Nightmare Moon when in fact she was in confusion of why a pony so evil was in tears.

"It seems she's distracted, but we need Twilight to help defeat these two alicorns the way that she wanted us to. "

"With friendship." Fluttershy stated with a smile of hope.

They all agreed on Fluttershy's statement, and had decided to carry out their plan without Twilight. They thought that if they still carried out their plan from before it may just help Twilight remember the real reason why she was facing Athanasia.

The ponies looked at each other in agreement of their current positions and that they were ready to carry out their plan.

"Hey Athanasia, do you really think a stallion would fool all of us?"

Athanasia quickly looked over at the six other ponies in the background that all had smiles of determination and hope written all over their faces. Athanasia was distracted long enough to use a magic spell to lift Flash up into the air and towards her; it seems to be that Twilight was acting out all that emotional stuff to make sure that her friends would get the message. But they weren't quite sure what Twilight had in mind so they let it be until they could talk to Twilight again.

"No, I just know that you're all nothing without her." Athanasia replied with a smirk.

"Well, you're wrong." Twilight announced, snapping Athanasia out of the other pony's distraction and returning to focusing on Flash.

"What?" Athanasia gasped in surprise, she closed her eyes in regret of falling for that distraction. "How could I be so foolish!?" She cried to herself.

"These ponies have survived without me; in this world you erased me from existence. But what you couldn't change was how much these ponies still mean to the elements of harmony."

Athanasia's tears of regret quickly disappeared as she lifted her head up and an expression of anger and pure evil had appeared on her face, her eyes were glowing a bright red, and her wings carried her body up into the air where the darkness of a storm rose from outside and the wind howled through her black streaked mane.

"Do you really think I would be fooled and give up so easily? Well you're wrong! I'm the most powerful being in the world, and it will be mine!" She announced as her voice echoed throughout the castle as the strong gusts of wind blew it in different directions.

Nightmare Moon overheard this, and grew angry of this. The purpose of Athanasia being there made Nightmare Moon feel useless, so with Athanasia completely forgetting once again but this time about Nightmare Moon; she used her dark blue and green magic to send a powerful blast towards the older alicorn.

Athanasia was struck by this, and the other ponies were first shocked by this but grew determined as Athanasia's true form was being shown. Her contrasting black streaks were turning grey and her purple coat was beginning to lose its bold colour.

Twilight quickly hugged Flash with a few tears escaping her delicate eyes as she moved the motionless and brainwashed Pegasus stallion over to where the other ponies were.

So, with the alicorns battling each other once again, the seven other ponies ran towards the shattered elements. Twilight and Sunset used their magic to give the correct pieces to the correct pony, and even thought Sunset Shimmer didn't have much to do with the elements she kept a smile of determination on her face as she carefully analysed the broken element pieces and gave them to the correct pony.

The magic that she and Twilight possessed was something unimaginable to any other pony. The five other ponies were very surprised especially Rarity of how these two ponies were able to identify the correct element pieces and place them with the correct pony.

"I must say Twilight and Sunset, you two have magic that I could never have." Rarity complimented as a few broken pieces of her element circled around her.

"It's because I have a strong friendship with every pony, my magic may not be the best. But it's what makes me special." Twilight said which actually came out of her mouth without her even thinking; those words had come solely from the heart.

And then, an amazing thing happened. Those words triggered the last spark that was required to create the elements of harmony; the spark twinkled in Twilight's eyes as her pupils dilated. And with that, the elements that were now circling around the five other ponies began to turn into a special necklace, then Twilight was pulled gently up into the air in front of the other ponies who were also floating in the air, her wings unfolded and she opened her eyes which revealed the magic of friendship within the six of them.

Sunset was amazed and happy for all of this to happen, but deep down she was jealous and upset of the fact that Twilight was getting all the glory and she wasn't getting anything yet. She hoped that after all this she would be able to have Celestia forgive her for her mistakes. A tear escaped her eye as she stood next to Flash to ensure that he wouldn't go anywhere.

The strong glow caught the two alicorn's attention by surprise. And they were both shocked by what they let happen.

"No! This isn't possible! There was no spark!" Nightmare Moon cried while quickly landing on the ground.

Athanasia was silent as she slowly and gently landed back on the ground, in complete suspense she didn't know what to do next. She didn't know what to even think next, she had let her guard down, and this was something she had not improved on since the time she had taken over the land.

"This is not for just me, but for Equestria!" Twilight declared as a rainbow of strong and beautiful colours appeared slightly above the six of the ponies and headed towards the two evil ponies.

The two evil alicorns screamed in regret and denial of what was happening at that very moment as the rainbows engulfed their dark magic and quickly transformed the two of them into what they used to be before they had been overcome with dark magic. Twilight knew what to expect when looking at Princess Luna, but she and her friends were very shocked to see how Athanasia turned out.

As the six of them landed safely onto the ground and with a tiara on Twilight's head with her element of magic in it, they all gasped at the new but yet old appearance of Athanasia.

Her coat was not as dark and full of colour as it used to be, and her youth had changed dramatically. Her age was too old for her body to withstand. She screamed in horror of her hideous appearance, while powerless Princess Luna was unconscious for just a moment but was startled by Athanasia's deafening scream.

Twilight walked up to the fading old alicorn and saw her true eye colour which was actually purple like her body once used to be. Twilight deep down wanted to make Athanasia see the good in how powerful friendship could be, but she could see by her sickening coughs that she was fading quickly from her drastically old age.

"I can see that you've learnt your lesson. But it's too late for you to understand the true meaning of friendship."
